PROVISIONAL LICENCE REQUIREMENTS | To undergo a Driving Test, you must hold a Provisional Licence covering the category in which you wish to be tested. In certain circumstances, eligibility for a Provisional Licence is conditional on the Applicant already holding a full Driving Licence for a smaller/lighter vehicle. Consequently, before you apply for the test, you should ensure that you hold the correct Provisional Licence. Eligibility for a third or subsequent Provisional Licence for any category of vehicle is dependent on you having undergone a driving test within the previous two years or providing evidence of a forthcoming driving test appointment in respect of the vehicle category in question. In the case of the latter, when applying for a driving test, applicants should submit a written request from their local Motor Taxation Office indicating the need for an early driving test appointment. If you have any doubt about your eligibility for a Provisional Licence you should enquire immediately with your local Motor Taxation Office. FEE | Please note that your application must be accompanied by the fee appropriate to each category of test. These are set out hereunder AND ARE NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE. Payment should be made by postal order, money order or cheque. These should be crossed and made payable to the Minister for Transport. PLEASE DO NOT SEND CASH. CANCELLING YOUR DRIVING TEST | 10 days notice of cancellation must be given, otherwise the fee is forfeit. A limit of two cancellations applies to appointments issued.
